Day Camp :
(Both Branches)
|
Summertime at the YMCA is
a time for sun and fun. Day camp is the premier summer activity sponsored
by the YMCA. Our camp is a New York State DOH certified camp which results
in an exceptional quality experience. Camp activities are supervised by
the YMCA professional staff and also a well-qualified support staff. Camp
staff possess training in First Aid, CPR, and lifeguarding. The camp runs
for ten weeks throughout the summertime. Activities include field trips to
local and regional points of interest, arts & crafts, group games, sports
and recreation, barbecues, and much more. Activities start out at the YMCA
facility each morning. After a brief orientation period the youngsters
walk to a local park for outdoor games and activities. In the afternoon
they return to the Y building for lunch and swimming activities. Several
times throughout the week the camp takes bus trips to public beaches such
as Pine Lake and Northampton Beach. Calendar year 2005 was a terrific year
for summer day camp and the YMCA is already planning for another great
camping season for 2006.
