What to Expect When Coming Back to the Y

When our Wellness Center reopens on September 1 (fingers crossed!), your experience will be a little different from what you are accustomed to, as participants will need to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines for the health and safety of members, youth and staff. Please take a moment to get familiar with some of the guidelines our members will have to follow for the time being.

We will be making an announcement soon as to our official days and times for the Wellness Center as well as when our Reservations Portal opens for those reservations!

What to Expect

  • Per the Governor’s mandate: face coverings must be worn at all times while inside the YMCA, except while eating, drinking and in an aquatic setting (pool, shower); this includes wearing a mask while working out in the Wellness Center; those who cannot medically tolerate a mask may wear a face shield in its place (please provide your own face shield)

  • Bandanas, buffs and gaiters are not considered acceptable face coverings for use inside the Wellness Center

  • Y staff will provide a disposable mask to those without an acceptable face covering

  • Children ages 12-13 may use the Wellness Center when accompanied by a parent- subject to an orientation with Y staff (child and parent must be members and both will need to make a reservation); children ages 14 & up may use the Wellness Center without a parent

  • Reservations must be made in advance to utilize the facility—please use our online ‘Reserve a Workout’ portal or call Member Services to make a reservation

  • We want you to be able to experience the fullest possible workout! Members may participate in up to 3 different services per day but cannot have longer than 60 minutes in any one area that day to limit your exposure time (for instance: you can make a reservation to workout in the Wellness Center, then swim, then take an outdoor Group Exercise class all in one day); subject to availability- explore our Reserve a Workout portal on our website to view available days and times

  • Your temperature will be checked at Member Services upon entry; Attestation Form must be signed each time you enter for contact tracing purposes

  • Members should wipe down equipment before and after each use; disinfectant will be available in the Wellness Center

  • Physical distancing will be in effect throughout the building; please follow floor and wall signage for instructions

  • Showers will be available however reservations allow for 60 minutes to limit exposure, so showers must be planned accordingly to fit within this time allowance; members should come dressed to workout/swim.

  • Whirlpool, sauna and steam room remained closed per the Governor’s orders

  • Basketball and racquetball courts remained closed; indoor group exercise classes may resume at a later date; outdoor group exercise classes will continue as scheduled
