ADA / Website Accessibility
Commitment to Accessibility
Fulton County YMCA is committed to making our website usable by all individuals, including those with disabilities. We strive to follow recognized accessibility standards and best practices so that everyone can access our information, programs, and services with ease.
Accessibility Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, which promotes accessibility across a wide range of disabilities (visual, auditory, motor, cognitive). (W3C)
We continually work to make improvements and reduce barriers to user access in accordance with ADA guidelines. (ADA.gov)
Key Accessibility Features
Wherever possible, our website includes:
Alternative text (alt text) or descriptive labels for images
Keyboard navigability (users can move through the site using keyboard controls)
Sufficient contrast between text and background colors to assist readability
Clear, descriptive link text (so links make sense out of context)
Form labels and error messages that are programmatically associated
Captions or transcripts for audio and video content
Semantic HTML structure (using headings, landmarks, ARIA roles where helpful)
Responsive design so content works well across devices
Known Limitations
While we aim for full accessibility, some parts of the site may not yet meet every WCAG requirement. For example, certain third-party content (such as embedded widgets or documents) may not yet be fully accessible. We are actively working to address these gaps.
