Become an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard
Turn your swimming skills into a rewarding opportunity by becoming an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard at the Fulton County YMCA! Our comprehensive certification course will prepare you with the knowledge and hands-on training needed to respond confidently in emergency situations and help keep others safe in and around the water.
Course Dates & Times
August 21–23, 2026
Friday: 4:00–10:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
Sunday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
Course Fee: $465
Prerequisites
Participants must:
Be 15 years old by the final day of class.
Swim 250 yards continuously using freestyle and breaststroke.
Tread water for 2 minutes using only their legs.
Complete a timed brick retrieval in 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Finish the required online coursework prior to the in-person class.
Upon successful completion, participants will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification, valid for two years, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
